Mar Verde is a gated community on Mococa Beach in Caraguatatuba, São Paulo, Brazil. Commonly known as Condominium Mar Verde, it is administered by the homeowner’s association Friends of Mar Verde (SAMAVE) which works together with the local government to bring about improvements to the neighborhood. Mar Verde, like the best private communities, has various perks such as private security and well maintained common areas. For this reason, it is known as a private community; in many ways it is equal or better than private communities in the region. The biggest difference: the price! Thanks to SAMAVE we enjoy all these luxuries at a quarter of the cost of private condominiums. 
Launched in 1983 by Costa Verde Ltda. and administrated by SAMAVE since 2001, it is a marvelous home base from which to enjoy all that the northern coast of São Paulo offers. It is located on the Rodovia Rio-Santos (SP55), 180 KM from São Paulo and 380 KM from Rio de Janiero. The front gate is 100m from Mococa Beach and the subdivision is naturally isolated by the Mococa River on one side and the State Park of the Coastal Mountains (Parque Estadual Serra do Mar) on the other side and at the back.
As we begin 2010, the ninth year of SAMAVE’s administration of the neighborhood, various projects are underway:
-Pavement of Rua Guaivira, the principle avenue of the neighborhood
-New trees and gardens throughout the neighborhood
-Termination of the construction of the neighborhoods largest park, with game fields, a track for running, and landscaped green spaces for everyone to enjoy
At this rate, we are certain to celebrate SAMAVE’s 10 year anniversary as the most sought after neighborhood in Caraguatatuba!
